The beginning of the meteorological summer yesterday, 1st June, was definitely not summer-like. With thick, low cloud all day, brought in by a brisk north-easterly wind, a maximum of 12.2C was only reached at 17.00 and frequent moisture in the wind, it was miserable. The UV peak of 3.1 was in the ‘Moderate’ category and usually recorded in March.
This morning the cloud is higher but between 04.30 and 05.30 the weather front passed over when the winds gusted again to 23mph. At 08.00 the temperature was only 8.8C but with wind chill it felt like 7C.
