Hot, Hot Hot!

The thermometer soared to 28.9C on Sunday, which was 6.2C above the 38-year average and the hotted day since 17th June (31.3C).

The wind was very light with the maximum gust just 11mph and from the west being calm overnight.

Monday brought strong sunshine after dawn that lifted the thermometer from a minimum of 9.6C, being 2.3C below average, to 21.1C at 08.00 making it the warmest start to a day at that time since 21st July (21.3C).

The equivalent rainfall of over 4mm is being lost daily through evaporation from ground sources and plant life. The humidity at 08.00 of 69% was the lowest since 14th June 2021 (64%).

The centre of the high pressure is relocating eastwards to the southern North Sea so the wind will continue light but probably from the southwest when there is any breeze to detect.
